Week 8 Learning Journal Post (90 - 120 Minutes)

Part 1: Review Other Teams' final video projects

As if you are their presentation coach, review the videos produced by three teams - including the two listed below yours in the share google doc "CST 349 Final Presentation Topic" and one of your choice.  You are encouraged to review more.  If your project is listed at the end, select the team at the top, so every team is reviewed by at least two others.

Insert the link of the video and your evaluation and suggestion to your learning journal. Optional: You can also insert your evaluation and suggestions directly to their YouTube video page as comments.  Be constructive!  

The evaluation should include, but is not limited to 

1. is the topic well covered? 

2. is the presentation clear?

3. how is the quality of the research?

4. how is the quality of the video production?

5. is the video engaging and interesting?

6. is the team work evident?

7. is the video appropriate to the audience (either general public or technology professionals)

They did a great job covering the social media algorithms and how they impact people. They covered the what, how, and why of algorithms influencing people. 

2. is the presentation clear?

The presentation was clear and well paced. They articulated very nicely. he visual pacing matched the audio. 

3. how is the quality of the research?

The research was well thought out and organized. They covered multiple platforms and how they cover transparency and accountability. Would be stronger with some cited references. 

4. how is the quality of the video production?

Quality was excellent. Audio levels were clear and consistent. Some moments during the video could use more visuals or transitions. 

5. is the video engaging and interesting?

It was highly engaging and very interesting to learn about. 

6. is the team work evident?

The script shows team work and collaboration. 

7. is the video appropriate to the audience (either general public or technology professionals)

Both videos were appropriate for the audiences. Fun for general audiences and algorithms for CS majors.

Excellent scope. Covers cognitive tutoring, use in education, and limitations. 

2. is the presentation clear?

Clear and structured with brief history of AI tutors. 

3. how is the quality of the research?

Solid start but could use some cited references. Has some stats, examples, and named bots. 

4. how is the quality of the video production?

Professional pacing and narration. Easy to follow. 

5. is the video engaging and interesting?

Strong hook, relatable in classrooms, and good compare/contrast. 

6. is the team work evident?

Script reads well and shows collaboration. Consistent tone. 

7. is the video appropriate to the audience (either general public or technology professionals)

Good for CS majors, friendly for general audience. Good meat without oversimplifying content. 

Group - CyberOtters

1. is the topic well covered? 

Comprehensive content with good coverage. Digs deep and really hooks audience. 

2. is the presentation clear?

Narration is clear and structured in an easy to follow manner. 

3. how is the quality of the research?

Good use of technical terms. Very good research and covers topics well. 

4. how is the quality of the video production?

Production is clear and professional. 

5. is the video engaging and interesting?

Very conversational. Interesting topics. Holds audience throughout. 

6. is the team work evident?

Structured flow and clear topics shows good collaboration. 

7. is the video appropriate to the audience (either general public or technology professionals)

Suited for CS majors and general audiences. Good depth of topics without too much over analyzing. 

Part 2: Keep Up With Your Learning Journal

Add in your video project and write one last entry about what you have learned in the class. How has your team communicated and/or collaborated? What can you do to make that collaboration more effective next time?

In CST349 this week we have been hard at work finishing up our video. We learned how to write good reviews for classmates and give advice and suggestions. 

Our team is collaborating through Discord and Zoom to make sure we get it done on time. In Discord we cover who needs help and motivate each other to do our best. In Zoom we look at what each team mate is doing and how the project can be better. In the future I think we should do more Zooms for whoever can make it, not required, so we can catch up along the way. I found that talking with others gave each other better ideas so even if two or three of us meet outside of the official team meetup, it would benefit us greatly.
